THANKSGIVING FOR BAPTISM
Blessed be the holy Trinity, + one God, the fountain of living water, the rock who gave us birth, our light and our salvation.
Amen.
Joined to Christ in the waters of baptism, we are clothed with God’s mercy and forgiveness. Let us give thanks for the gift of baptism. Holy God, holy and merciful, holy and mighty, you are the river of life, you are the everlasting wellspring, you are the fire of rebirth. Glory to you for oceans and lakes, for rivers and streams. Honor to you for cloud and rain, for dew and snow. Your waters are below us, around us, above us: our life is born in you. You are the fountain of resurrection. Praise to you for your saving waters: Noah, his family, and the animals survive the flood, Hagar discovers your well. The Israelites escape through the sea, and they drink from your gushing rock. Naaman washes his leprosy away, and the Samaritan woman will never be thirsty again. Praise to you for the water of baptism and for your Word that saves us in this sacrament. Breathe your Spirit into all who are gathered here and into all creation. Illumine our days. Enliven our bones. Dry our tears. Wash away the sin within us, and drown the evil around us.
Satisfy all our thirst with your living water, Jesus Christ, our Savior, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

PRAYER OF THE DAY
Renewing God, pour out your
power and come. In the waters of baptism you claim us and call us to be your
beloved children. May water be our ever present sign that you make all things
new. Refresh us with the good news of Christ’s love and anoint us with your
Holy Spirit that we might know the fullness of the new life that you prepare
for us in your kingdom. In the name of Christ we pray. Amen.

Prayers of Intercession
Called together into the Spirit’s loving embrace, let us pray for the renewal of the church, those in need, and all of God’s creation. We pray, holy God, for the unity of the church universal: Draw your church together into one great company of disciples, together following our teacher Jesus Christ into every walk of life, together serving in Christ’s mission to the world, and together witnessing to your love wherever you send us. Gracious Spirit, fashion us all anew.

We pray, omnipotent God, for the well-being of creation: We give you thanks for transforming the chaotic waters of creation into saving waters that nourish and sustain our earth. Renew us every day by your water and word.

We pray, righteous God, for peace and justice in the world: Lead the nations of the world away from the wilderness of sin and evil, and toward the light of love and peace. Give us a thirst for justice for all. Gracious Spirit, fashion us all anew.

God of grace, You have showered us with abundance and entrusted to us the ministries of Women of the ELCA. Help us to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world. Accept these gifts and our prayer that, nurtured by your Word, filled with your Spirit, and fed at your table, we may share with gladness all that you have shared with us, until all creation is satisfied. Amen.

Renew and enliven us by your presence in this meal, that we may be your presence in the world, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.

SENDING
In our wilderness, God gives us water from the rock. May you find hope and healing in God’s grace.

Christ Jesus is the Messiah, the redeemer of the world. May you be refreshed by his life-giving water and Word.
